John Crayne | NOVUS | Week 7

Today, Andrew and I reviewed a complete construction set for a Hospital in North Carolina. He first explained how NOVUS models and tags wall studs. While a stud is tagged as a 2×4, the correct dimensions are actually 1.5″ x 3.5″ and that is how they should be modeled in Revit. Our construction documents MUST translate to the physical world, so very ounce of detail must be accounted for and noted so that other companies cannot sue us, since every partnership for the project is under contract.

This week, I’m starting to make wall families for all of the studios. All of the current wall families are made for metal studs and that is consistent across all studios, but wooden wall studs are not consistent. My job is to copy, paste, and edit all wall types to show wooden wall studs and edit drawings accordingly.
