To start the week off, I went to Kiawah all morning to take field measurements and site photos for a home. We are renovating the back deck and adding a pool. This is the first home I have worked with that has a flag area for the cul-da-sac driveway that is shared with other homes so the lot coverage is calculated differently. For this home we were allowed 40% lot coverage and the original home was already at 40%. To solve this and create a bigger deck and pool, we took off the front porch and stairs and making the main entrance through the ground floor in the garage. There were a lot of pieces to solve in this puzzle, but we finally got to a scheme that works per Kiawah’s municipal code.
