Lauren Praeuner | GMC | Week 3

Work Hours: 16     AXP Hours: 16

This week was full of working on the Sherwin Williams district office which is a renovation of an existing fire station. This project was interesting to work on because we were required to match our drawings to the Sherwin Williams’ design standards, meaning that our sheets needed to contain specific symbols, fonts, descriptions, and layouts different from what we are used to producing. I helped the production team pick up a series of redlines, mainly consisting of fixing notes, wall details, and elevations. Though much of this week’s work consisted of cleaning up drawings, I still learned a lot about putting together finalized construction documents.

Lessons Learned:

  • Matching drawings to design standards
  • Different ways of writing notes that are clear and concise to minimize mistakes in the construction field
  • How existing buildings are converted into new programs
