Weekly Hours: 16 | Total Hours: 68
This week I continued to move forward with Design Documents for the Carolina Park retail complex in Mount Pleasant, SC. On Monday, we touched base with MEPS consultants and decided to push our DD deadline back a week to next Thursday. For me, this was an important lesson in communication. Although we had provided our consultants with a schedule during the schematic phase, their workload and lack of coordination on my part did not allow them to finish in time. I will be more mindful of this moving forward. This was also a lesson in flexibility. Although the DD deadline will be pushed a week, Jeff reassured me that we will easily be able to get back on track as we move into construction documents.
On Wednesday, I sat down for a weekly coordination meeting with my team. We went over a few redlines but mostly discussed what we need to have our set ready for next Thursday’s pricing exercise. We began to talk more in depth about material and product specifications. During this conversation, I learned a lot about how even minor details have a significant impact on the overall price per square foot. As we also prepare for the next Carolina Park DRB submittal, we must put together a color study with our selected materials for approval.
