Weekly Summary
This week I was introduced to new computer programs and machines that I have yet to experience in the academic setting. I have now learned how to CNC from start to finish; including how to bring a file into the correct software, create tool paths, specify settings, startup a machine, change settings on the machine, choose the correct equipment, run the machine, and finally see the finished product. I appreciate all the steps taken prior to the actual routing that physically takes place. This internship has been a great experience for me thus far, as I am experiencing a different style of workflow and other methods of practice. Working at the detail scale rather than a full building scale, I am focusing more on custom installation pieces, the act of physically making, and I can create and explore the limits of digital fabrication. I am looking forward to continuing the work in weeks to come.
