Weekly Reflection

This week I started to work with another project, the Opie Market in Mount Pleasant. I was in a client meeting with the civil engineer and urban planning department for this project months ago. The clients are two young man. The idea of this project is very interesting. It’s a drive through market where you order the grocery online and pick up here. People don’t go into the building at all. So it doesn’t need big parking lot as general grocery store does. There isn’t many similar projects in Charleston and the clients has been working for it for over five years. They went through the proposal, looking for collaborator, sponsor, and they finally get to build it. My mentor and other colleagues really enjoy this project as they feel it’s a dream-achieving project for two young men. The firm usually doesn’t get this kind of project after running for years. I feel like this profession tend to lose this kind of excitement and motivation from time to time in a small firm, since it lacks the outreach resources as bigger firm does.
