Summary

This week, I mainly focused on details for a new fire station on James Island. I developed the door schedule, head and jamb details, assembly types, and storefront details. I learned a lot about this valuable aspect of architecture and was very happy with the assignment. Just days after expressing my goal to get more exposure to exterior detailing, I was put on this assignment. In tandem with this assignment, I participated in a couple CA School lessons that are put on by Liollio’s in house contract administrator, Tommy Schimpf. Tommy helped me better understand the proper detailing of exterior openings, using drawings and construction site photos to elaborate. In getting down to these finer details, I’ve learned some of the concepts and strategies behind rainwater management and thermal breaks.
